A name without a standard

Electric yellow has no official definition. The name turns up on online color lists for bright, glowing yellows, and #FFFF33 is one code they give it. We could not find an older or more official source.

How the code is built

#FFFF33 is pure screen yellow, #FFFF00, mixed with 20% white. Each of its values is a multiple of 51, or 33 in hex. That makes it one of the 216 web safe colors of the 1990s.

It is almost the same as yellow (RYB), #FEFE33. Laser lemon is one step paler.
