About the color Traffic Yellow

The gold in the German flag

Traffic yellow is RAL 1023 in the RAL Classic paint chart. Germany uses it for the gold stripe of its flag. Oddly, the flag color is called gold, but the paint behind it has a yellow name.

The Wikipedia list of RAL colours gives RAL 1023 as #F7B500, a deep golden yellow. The same list says it is used on the U4 line of the Berlin subway. Our RAL page shows it with the other yellows.

Paler than the paint

This page's traffic yellow is #FEDC39, from an open online name list. It is lighter and less orange than RAL 1023, so the codes do not match. Text on it should be dark: black on traffic yellow has a contrast ratio of 15.51 to 1. Close shades are school bus yellow and mustard.
