About the color Yellow Rose

A name without one source

Yellow Rose is a common name for paint chips, and the makers do not agree on the shade. Glidden and Benjamin Moore both sell soft, creamy yellows with this kind of name. The code #FFF000 is far stronger than those. It appears in online color name lists, but we found no paint maker or standard behind it.

Where yellow roses came from

Garden roses were not yellow for a long time. Most modern yellow roses trace back to Rosa foetida, a wild rose brought to Europe from Persia. In 1900 the French breeder Joseph Pernet-Ducher crossed it with the rose 'Antoine Ducher' and got 'Soleil d'Or'. On screen, this color is very close to lemon and yellow.
