Same code as cool grey
#8C92AC is a soft blue with a lot of gray in it. This site also lists the same code as cool grey. Both go back to Wikipedia. In 2011 its cool grey page used #8C92AC and tied it to sample 203 of the ISCC-NBS Dictionary of Color Names from 1955. That sample is called grayish blue, or gray blue.
The dictionary was made to match color names from many older books to a set of samples. In an online copy of its G list, the words gray blue lead to six different samples, depending on which book used them. So gray blue never meant one exact color.
Darker and lighter neighbors
For a slightly darker and grayer color, try Roman silver. Lavender gray is paler. Black text on #8C92AC has a contrast ratio of 6.82 to 1.
