About the color Parchment

Picked by thousands of people

This parchment, #FEFCAF, comes from the color survey run by the web comic xkcd. People were shown colors and typed in a name for each one. In 2010 the comic's author shared the results: 954 named colors from about 222,500 user sessions. Parchment was the name people gave to this very pale yellow.

Real parchment and other lists

Parchment itself is a writing material made from animal skins, mostly from sheep, calves and goats. Wikipedia lists the color parchment as #F1E9D2, a creamy off white that first appeared on the Xona.com color list in 2001. That code does not match the one here. The xkcd shade is brighter and more yellow.

If you want a softer paper tone, compare cream and cornsilk.
