A pale blue with no clear origin
Water is a very pale cyan, #D4F1F9. The name comes from an open list of color names gathered online. We could not find who first paired it with this code. Wikipedia's alphabetical list shows the same code, so the HEX matches. Its link points to a Water section in the shades of cyan article, but that section does not exist, so no source stands behind it.
Real water does have a faint blue tint. As the color of water article explains, water soaks up a little red light, and this shows in deep pools. Close matches are light cyan and waterspout. With white the ratio is 1.18 to 1, so pair it with dark text.
