Named after a sauce
Pesto is a green sauce from Genoa, a city in northwest Italy. It is made with basil leaves, olive oil, cheese, pine nuts and garlic. The color on this page, #C1B23E, is a dull mustard green that comes from an open online list of color names. That list gives no source for the code.
A pearly crayon
Crayola also has a Pesto crayon. It came in a 24 count box of Pearl Crayons released in 2019, according to the Wikipedia list of Crayola colors. That list shows it as #5F7B4A, a darker leaf green much closer to real basil. So the Crayola code and the code here are not the same.
Similar shades on this site include citron and green olive.
