Why the candy is not pure white
White chocolate is made from cocoa butter, sugar and milk solids. It has none of the dark cocoa solids that color regular chocolate. The cocoa butter gives it a soft yellow tint, which is why it looks closer to ivory than to paper. Since 2004, American rules have said it must hold at least 20 percent cocoa butter.
Most writers count NestlΓ©'s Galak bar from 1936 as the first white chocolate sold in shops. In the United Kingdom it was sold as Milkybar.
Two codes for one name
The site's #F0E3C7 comes from an open color name list. Wikipedia's shades of white article uses #EDE6D6, which it took from Encycolorpedia. The codes do not match: #F0E3C7 is warmer and more yellow, like a real bar. Similar soft whites are vanilla and eggshell.
